Paragon NTFS for Mac OS X is an NTFS driver that provides full readwrite access to NTFS formatted volume with the same speed as OS Xs native HFS format.

Using the driver means that shared files can be accessed with ease without the need for potentially expensive hardware.

A Windows version of the driver is also available that can be used to enable Windows computer to access HFS partitions.

If it doesnt work for you, youre probably gonna need to back up your Mac, flatten your hard drive and reinstall Mac OS X from scratch -- THEN follow my Paragon procedures in order, which is really stupid.

My PC can mount the drive and read and write to it perfectly.

My MacBook Air can mount the drive in seconds and see the files but its read only.

The MacBook Air is running High Sierra 10.13.3 I am running High Sierra 10.13.4 on the Mini.

Mac System Reports USB Bus can see the drive.

Heres all the things Ive tried: 1) Paragon NTFS for Mac (free version and not free version) tries to mount the drive and comes back with an error telling me that it failed to mount my NTFS drive.

Safe Mode doesnt see it.

Disk Utility cannot mount the drive.

Repairing in Show All does nothing except run a quick second-long repair.

As stated, the drive connects to other computers without any issues.

Mounty NTFS cant see the drive.

Zapping NVRAM does nothing.

Uninstalling and reinstalling Paragon does nothing.

If you install the Paragon NTFS for Mac driver and get a Security alert that tells you to allow it, thats probably at your peril if youre running High Sierra.

If you do and then restart, you may end up with a Mac that will take 20 to 30 minutes to boot up and then top out at 100 progress on the startup bar -- and then, nothing.

If this happens, do the following: 1) Boot your Mac into Recovery Mode (just hold down Option after the chime and select the Recovery volume that pops up).

Run Terminal. 3) Type the following into the Terminal when you get there (if you see quotes, include the quotes): cd Volumes(name of your driver here)vardbcachesopendirectory (NOTE: if your hard driver includes a space in the name -- eg: Macintosh HD -- you have to space it like this: cd VolumesMacintosh HDvardbcachesopendirectory) mv mbrcache mbrcache.old 4) Restart the Mac.

This SHOULD boot you all the way through to your login screen -- AND your Paragon drivers should mount your drive.

However, you could also hit up the people at the Genius Bar and see what they can figure out.

An aside: jumping through this many hoops to get an external NTFS hard drive to work is absolutely ridiculous.

Even when it didnt, finding the driver that made it work was a piece of cake.

Im glad I conquered this but its frustrating, especially when Apples motto use to be ease of use.

The Mac Mini simply does not like it and the Paragon Drivers, for whatever reason, have just stopped working altogether.

Additionally, I will create another user account and see if that resolves it.

If that doesnt work, Im going full clean install after wiping the drive.

Lastly, why is this marked as Solved when it isnt actually solved.

Paragon was then installed -- and it broke the OS to the point where Im getting 100 percent on the startup progress bar and cant get to the login screen.
